Kid's Corner
Kids see everything!
Including their parents taking medications bought from their local pharmacy.
They see what they take AND when they take it.
BUT they don't know the consequences of taking it incorrectly!

Candy vs. Medicine
Children tend consume medicines thinking it is a piece of candy. This is common in infants and toddlers; parents need to make sure to put medications in safe places and in child-resistant containers.
Teaching at an early age
Start educating children on taking medicines and vitamins only when given by their parent or guardian.
Children should know to inform a grown-up immediately if they notice other children getting into medications.
Educate kids to let their parents know if they feel worse after taking a medication.
Encourage them to ask questions about medications.
Educate children around 10 years old on how to read dosing charts/drug facts labels for over-the-counter medications and be sure to keep all medication in a safe place.
For children around 7 years age and older- be sure they know the steps for taking medicine;
- Know the rules for taking medicines at school and follow them
- Avoid putting medicines in their pockets.
- Educate older children not to take their medicines in front of other children younger than 4 years.
